12:45PM | 3D Printing and Product Design

Apply 3D printing and design skills in the real world by designing and 3D printing original products and inventions. This class will focus heavily on the design process by pitting students against real world problems and challenging them with the task of designing solutions. Students will design, model, 3D print and test their own originally designed products. In addition, students will also design a logo and a promotional poster for their products.

Design and program video games using Scratch! Scratch is an MIT designed programming language that is specifically designed to make programming fun and easy. Students will start with the hour of code and then build several simple games to learn the ins and outs of how to program with Scratch. By the end of the class, students will have originally designed video games to share with friends and family!

Learn to create logos, web graphics, movie posters, and much more with industry standard design software! Students will explore the essential tools in Photoshop and Illustrator and create a variety of original projects ranging from graphics to custom fonts and more. No prior experience with Photoshop or Illustrator is necessary, and students can expect to complete this class with prints of their original designs!

Create interactive text adventure games, quizzes and more with Python. Python is an ideal starter language because it is easy to write, easy to read and is used in the real world, in fact, the entire backend of YouTube is written in Python! Students will start with writing simple projects to develop familiarity with the language and move onto creating interactive text-based games and even drawing with code!

Take your Java skills to the next level! This class is designed for students who have Java experience and want to take their skills to the next level. Students and their instructor will work side by side to plan, design, and program projects in Processing ranging from arcade-style video games to interactive stories and everything in between. Please note, to take this class students must have taken a DAE Java class in the past.

Create immersive VR environments using Unity! Unity is a free and powerful game development tool. Students start by exploring the basics of developing a 3D space in Unity. They will then use their skills to develop immersive VR environments and experience them using our Oculus Rift! This class will include concepts of game design and computer programming.

Running a YouTube channel is fun and not as difficult as you may think! Students will explore different styles of YouTube videos and decide what style they would each like to use for their channel. The class will then learn how to shoot and edit awesome videos with Adobe Premiere. Finally, students will explore the process of uploading, tagging, properly labeling and creating thumbnails for their videos!
