[In-Person] Create Games with Roblox Studio
Weekly registration required
Learn to design and build your own games in Roblox Studio! Students will explore game theory and mechanics as they design and build their very own Obby in Roblox. This class is designed for total beginners and requires only minimal code. The best part is that students can make their games available to play on Roblox.com so their friends and family and test their game from anywhere!
[In-Person] Digital Drawing & Cartooning
Become a digital comic artist! Students will start by working with their instructor and their peers to create their own original characters and stories. They will then create basic storyboards of their comics. Once their storyboards are complete, they will create their comics digitally using digital drawing software.
[In-Person] Intro to 3D Printing & Laser Cutting
Learn to design and build original objects using The DAE's 3D printers and laser cutter! Using TinkerCAD, a free and powerful 3D design program, students will create originally designed models, parts, and more. From action figures to boxes with hinged lids, the only limit is your creativity! Students will also use TInkerCAD and Adobe Illustrator to create beautiful engravings and originally designed parts of wood and acrylic using our laser cutter.
[In-Person] Minecraft Redstone Engineers
Redstone is one of the most advanced elements in Minecraft, allowing Miners to create mechanical and electrical creations in the game! From automatic doors to elevators, there is practically no limit to what you can design and create with Redstone. This class will explore how to use the various Redstone materials in Minecraft through various projects.
[In-Person] Start Coding with Python
Create interactive text adventure games, quizzes, and more with Python. Python is an ideal starter language because it is easy to write, easy to read, and is used in the real world. In fact, the entire backend of YouTube is written in Python! Students will start with writing simple projects to develop familiarity with the language and move onto creating interactive text-based games and even drawing with code!
[Online] Animate 3D Models with Blender
Weekly registration only
Learn the basics of how movies like Toy Story, The Incredibles, Ice Age, and more were created! Using Blender, a free and powerful 3D Animation program, students will explore the basics of modeling, lighting, and texturing 3D objects. Starting with several simple projects, students will explore the essential tools in Blender and move on to model more complex objects, like spaceships! Students can expect to complete several 3D models in this class.
[Online] Design an RPG
Weekly registration required
Do you enjoy tabletop role-playing games like D&D? Have you ever wanted to create your own system with rules? Perhaps create a world of your own? Develop your own game or level in this class! Take a dive into Sci-Fi, transport to the Jurassic Period, or solve mysteries as an ace detective. The possibilities are endless! If you love RPGs or want to get into game design, this is the place to be!
*All students will require a google drive account, or a similar product to store documents, notes, and other assets.
[Online] Game Quest with Scratch
Go on a quest to become a Game Designer! Questers will be given a design prompt, a crash course on putting the game together, and (depending on the prompt) some basic assets. Questers will use the remaining time to put a game together and test it. Don't worry if you don't finish! This is about learning, having fun, and creating awesome projects!
