Ages 9-12

Model and animate Minecraft characters using professional 3D Animation software! Using Blender, a powerful and free 3D animation program, the class will explore the world of modeling, texturing and animation. Students will model originally designed Minecraft characters and texture them with any skin of their choosing. They will then, as a class, write and animate a short story that incorporates everyone's characters. Please note that this class is a 3D animation class and does not include playing Minecraft.

Ages 9-12

Apply 3D printing and design skills in the real world by designing and 3D printing original products and inventions. This class will focus heavily on the design process by pitting students against real world problems and challenging them with the task of designing solutions. Students will design, model, 3D print and test their own originally designed products. In addition, students will also design a logo and a promotional poster for their products.

Ages 12-16

Design and program original arcade-style video games using Java! Students will start by rebuilding pong in Processing, a programming environment specifically designed to handle graphics and interactivity. They will then as a class design, build, and test an original video game complete with characters, enemies, sound effects, music and more! From spaceship shooters to platform jumping battle games, the sky is the limit!

Prerequisite: Intro to Scratch (Create Games with Scratch)

Ages 8-12

Scratch is an MIT created programming language that uses drag and drop blocks to form lines of code and is specifically designed to make programming fun and easy. Students will start with the hour of code and then explore the ins and outs of creating games with Scratch. By the end of the class, students will have originally designed video games to share with friends and family!

Discover the world of digital photography! Students will first learn about different styles of photography and look at the work of various artists in all styles. They’ll learn about photo composition and explore working with natural light through outdoor shooting. In addition, students will experiment with various studio lights and lighting techniques. Finally, they will explore photo editing using Adobe Photoshop.

Take your Java skills to the next level! This class is designed for students who have Java experience and want to take their skills to the next level. Students and their instructor will work side by side to plan, design, and program projects in Processing ranging from arcade-style video games to interactive stories and everything in between.

10:00AM | Motion Graphics for YouTube (YouTube Part 2)

Prerequisite: YouTube Video Creation 1 or equivalent prior video editing experience

Ages 9-12

Now that students have learned how to shoot and edit awesome videos, learned to upload and tag videos to YouTube and build an audience, they can take their skills to the next level! This class will explore how to use Adobe Animate to create custom titles and other graphics for students' specific channels.

Create interactive visual projects using code. Using Processing, a programming environment specifically designed to handle graphics, students will use Python to create a variety of different interactive, visual projects and even games. The class builds on the skills developed in Intro to Programming with Python and applies them to a whole new world of projects. Students can expect to complete this class with several original projects. Students will need to use previous Python experience, plus creativity & problem solving skills to create a complex game from the ground up that may even incorporate graphics!
