Learn about summer camp, meet our Founder & President Rob Kissner, and experience The DAE right from your home. This session will explore all the different offerings we have for kids and teens, so if you're not sure of the right in-person or virtual experience to enroll in, this open house is for you!

Running a YouTube channel is fun and not as difficult as you may think! Students will explore different styles of YouTube videos and decide what style they would each like to use for their channel. The class will then learn how to shoot and edit awesome videos with Davinci Resolve, a free and powerful video editing program. Finally, students will explore the process of uploading, tagging, properly labeling, and creating thumbnails for their videos! Please note, as this is an online class, students will be responsible for shooting their videos outside of class. Class time will be spent on writing content for video and editing.

Please note, students will need access to a device that can record video. Acceptable devices include tablets, smartphones, point and shoot cameras with video capabilities or camcorders.

[Online] Create Games with Scratch

Design and program video games using Scratch! Scratch is a programming language built by MIT that is specifically designed to make programming fun and easy. Students will start with the hour of code and then build several simple games to learn the ins and outs of how to program with Scratch. By the end of the class, students will have originally designed video games to share with friends and family!

[Online] Intro to Digital Drawing

Become a digital comic artist! Students will start by working with their instructor and their peers to create their own original characters and stories. They will then create basic storyboards of their comics. Once their storyboards are complete, they will create their comics digitally using digital drawing software.

[Online] Minecraft Amusement Park Engineers

You've built Minecraft Cities, Mars habitats, and even explored using Redstone. Now it's time to put all of your skills together and create the ultimate Amusement park! Students will work as a team in our private Minecraft server and plan, built, and automate their own custom-designed park using Redstone, complete with roller coasters Ferris wheels, and carnival games. All participants will receive a copy of their world after the completion of this class.

This virtual class will be held online via Google Meet.

Please note, a Mac or PC with the Java edition of Minecraft is required to attend this class. Chromebooks, iPads, and Xbox will not be able to access The DAE server.

Whether you have taken Minecraft City Builders at The DAE or this is your first Minecraft class with us, you are sure to have an exciting adventure in building space habitats in Minecraft! Students will learn about space habitats and what required to allow astronauts to live on another planet! They will then, as a team, design and build their ideal space habitat in our private Minecraft Server!

This virtual class will be held online via Google Meet.

Ages 9 - 12

Create interactive text adventure games, quizzes, and more with Python. Python is an ideal starter language because it is easy to write, easy to read, and is used in the real world. In fact, the entire backend of YouTube is written in Python! Students will start with writing simple projects to develop familiarity with the language and move onto creating interactive text-based games and even drawing with code!
