Learn the basics of how movies like Toy Story, The Incredibles, Ice Age, and more were created! Using Blender, a free and powerful 3D Animation program, students will explore the basics of modeling, lighting, and texturing 3D objects. Starting with several simple projects, students will explore the essential tools in Blender and move onto to model more complex object, like spaceships! Students can expect to complete several 3D models in this class.
Software: Download and install Blender

Ages 12-16
Learn how to build a challenging platformer in 3D. Students will use Unity, a powerful game design tool, to explore what goes into the game design process. Students with knowledge of Unity will take the reigns and come up with their own game concepts and dive deeper into game theory. The class will work as a team to solve problems, and by the end, every student will have a game they developed playable on the computer!
Software: Download and Install Unity, Blender and Gimp
Hardware: A 3 button mouse is required!

Learn the basics of Java by creating amazing interactive projects! Java is the most commonly used programming language in the world - even Minecraft was programmed in Java! This class will explore Java using Processing, a program used to create graphics with code. From creating simple drawings to interactive animated projects, this class will provide a solid foundation in using Java. Students should expect to complete a variety of projects during this class.

Learn how to build a challenging platformer in 3D! Students will use Unity, a powerful game design tool, to explore what goes into the game design process. At first, the class will build a pre-designed level in their game as a group to learn the basics of Unity. Students will then get to design and build their own custom levels to add to their game. Each student will complete the class with a finished game that can be played on any computer.

Have you ever wondered how to create moving images with nothing but your drawings? Jump in and get started with this class! Students will learn what it takes to create traditional hand-drawn animations with Open Toonz, a free illustration and cartooning program that is used by Studio Ghibli! Students will begin with the simple bouncing ball, to stick figures and finally onto a final project where they can add as much detail as they like. Traditional Animation is a difficult subject, so to make the learning process easier, the objects drawn in this class will be simple. Students with significant drawing experience can elaborate on their projects.
